"The worst 2 years in your life" (Part 1)

2 years, A-levels. You know what I'm talking bout. JC. Junior college. But, what if I told you that it isn't as bad as it seems? Read below to find out why :)

After 2 months in Junior college, it really isn't that bad. It's just like secondary school with a little more freedom and leeway in making choices. But the homework is definitely much heavier than in secondary schools with more essays and other science stuff (I took arts). One factor I think made the JC load lighter is the subject combinations. A piece of advice I could give to a future JC kid would be to take the subject combination of YOUR choice. Not your parents or even your friend's choice but YOUR choice. When you do subjects you like, it kinda reduces the procrastination you feel especially during the weekdays. You most likely end school at 5+ and by the time you reach home, probably 6. So don't expect to sleep at 9. If you do sleep at 9, then pls email me your secret formula. I took arts stream and took GEO, ECONS, MATH, and history.

Very weird combination, but super fun. Especially Geo and History. I will be addressing more on these subjects later. The point is... just don't choose a combination for choices but to fit your interests.

I know there is a common secondary school myth that kids wanting to go to JC must take pure subjects. This is very very untrue. Unless you wanna do double science in JC, you shouldn't be too worried about missing out especially if u took combined science. Generally, H2 science subjects are a continuation of Pure subjects but you should be able to catch up with ample practice. However, this is the total opposite of the arts stream. During my matriculation week which is kinda like orientation but for the arts stream, we were told that past knowledge does not matter. Even those who did not take pure or COMBINED Geography were welcome to take H2 Geography. Same for History. I didn't take history at all in upper sec but I didn't have any extra struggles compared to former history students. We suffered with the same type of question.
